Our core business is our products: wine and olive oil.

Our wines are aged in oak barrels in accordance with the regulations of our appellation.
The range of soil that we enjoy with our position on the border of Casternuovo, Berardenga and Siena offers us the opportunity to produce a diverse variety of wines : Chianti Classico, Chianti Colli Senesi, Colli Etruria Centrale, IGT Toscana Rosso, Vin Santo e Grappa.

Olive Oil Mills
Following traditional processes, unchanged in over a century, the mill uses stone wheels to create authentic extra virgin olive oil.

Our products are available for tasting.

Chianti Classico DOCG

The Il Castagno Chianti Classico reflects exactly our approach to winemaking.
Our fruit is carefully graded with only the best from small sections of our vineyards being selected for Il Castagno Chianti Classico.
Made with minimal intervention, this is a wine of great length and longevity that is a true expression of our vineyard, region and variety.
The 2013 Chianti Classico reveals an intense ruby colour, notes of ripe red fruits and spices in its elegant, medium to full-bodied personality.
Everything is in balance as red cherries, plums, violets and spices come together in a fresh, vibrant expression of Sangiovese.

This wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels

Chianti Classico Riserva 2012 DOCG

Fattoria Il Castagno is an excellent source for traditionally-styled Chiantis.
The highlight of this line-up is the Chianti Classico Riserva, which is capable of developing gracefully in bottle.
The estate’s 2012 Chianti Classico Riserva presents a bright ruby-red colour along with sweet notes of toasted oak on the nose.
With some air, notes of black cherries, spices and leather develop in the glass.
Our 2012 Riserva is notable for its fine drinkability and overall harmony.
There is enough freshness to make us think this elegant, refined Chianti will continue to drink well for another decade.

This wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels

Dessert Wine

Vin Santo DOCG

Il Castagno is a late-harvest wine (dessert wine made from dried grapes).
Selected bunches of Trebbiano , Malvasia and Sangiovese grapes are hung and left to dry partially for 4 months.
In the way, Vin Santo naturally acquires its alcohol and sugar contents as its unique organoleptic qualities come into their own.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil
This Fattoria Il Castagno oil is made from Frantoio, Morailolo and Leccino varieties of olive, grown exclusively in our owned groves.
The olives are pressed in our own olive pree on the very same day they are harvested, using the continuous cycle method.
Green with golden highlights, Fattoria Il Castagno Extra Virgin Olive Oil is renowned for producing a medium/robust fruity oil of great quality with bitterness and spiciness that is distinctive yet pleasant and well-balanced.
Characteristically associated with aromas of fresh grass, green apple and walnuts this premium oil is elegant with intense flavours of rich oil.
